The Short Answer: Bible Verses About Self-Worth
So many women struggle with their self-esteem and self-worth, in fact, about 79% of women report struggles with confidence and identity. The word of God is the perfect solution to help you discover who you are and how much you mean to your Creator.

Self-worth asks the question, "What do I mean to this world? Who am I and why do I matter?" These are all great questions to ask yet sometimes they are directed at the wrong things. Some people are seeking these answers in other people, some are looking at the stars, and some, like you, have realized that God definitely has the truth I seek.
We all want to know how valuable we are and many of us have never known it. The culture and environment around us are always trying to put a price on what human being are worth. Whether it's how beautiful someone is, how much money they make, or what they've achieved, there's always a measuring line that seems impossible. But the world’s measure of worth, beauty, and success was never meant to define you.
Here are nine Bible verses about self-worth that will anchor your identity and refresh your soul.

9 Essential Bible Verses About Self-Worth
1. Psalm 139:16–18
"Your eyes saw my unformed body; all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be. How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand; and when I awake, I am still with You!"
These verses have had me in a chokehold for a while because I'm seeing things I hadn't paid attention to before. First, God ordained you to be here. Second, He thinks about you more than the grains of sand (which scientist still can't count). Third, everyday He is with you even when others have left. Isn't that amazing? The people who abandoned you thought 10 bad thoughts about you and left. But God, He thinks millions of thoughts about you, even though you're a sinner, and He's still there with you the next day. That's so beautiful.
2. Ephesians 2:10
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
When God ordained you to be here, He also prepared specific things for you to do. You were created in Christ to do good, not just to look good. People may have an idea about your purpose or you may even plan for a certain lifestyle, but God already had it thought out. You were worth that much planning and preparation.
3. Song of Solomon 4:7
"You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no spot in you."
When the world sees flaws and things less than beautiful, God sees nothing wrong with you. He was intentional in how He formed you, and remember He calls His creation very good in Genesis. And even though you sin, Jesus was sent to make you spotless and without blemish. This is how He views every believer.
4. Genesis 1:31
"God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good, and He validated it completely. And there was evening, and there was morning, a sixth day."
God validated and accepted you when He ordained for you to be here. And there is no one and no thing that can change that fact. People may call your behavior unacceptable and your looks a hot mess, but God accepted you already and gave you His stamp of approval.
5. 1 Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
God chose you! You did not choose Him. The truth is, God chose you and introduced Himself to you, and you responded. And He chose you so that you could be holy, fully belonging to Him, and telling other people about His love. It doesn't matter who's rejected you, you were selected by the King of the Universe.
6. Luke 12:6–7
"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows."
Something else that God numbers that we can't is your hair. That's how detailed He is about you and your worth. To put this in perspective, Jesus talks about the sparrows...how worthless they are in society and how cheap they are exchanged. Yet, God doesn't even forget about these little "worthless" animals. So how could He ever forget you? Even the birds mean something special to Him.
7. 1 Samuel 16:7
"For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
People often measure worth based on how something looks. We know this all too well. People are made fun of or rejected because they don't look as good in comparison to the next person. But God isn't measuring how worthy someone is by how they appear. He's always looking inside to see what type of character can accomplish a specific role He has in mind. It's not a matter of worthiness, but character.
8. Romans 8:38–39
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things present nor things to come... will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Nothing can separate you from God's love. Not your struggles, your appearance, or your failures. God will always love you right now for exactly who and where you are.
9. 2 Corinthians 12:9
"He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."
Your weaknesses don't disqualify you, because God's grace meets you in the gap. When you look at yourself and think, "Oh no, I can't do it," His power kicks in to support you where you are lacking. That's why Paul said he will rather boast in how weak he was because that's when he was truly strong in the Lord.
Walking in Your God-Given Worth Every Day
Unlearning the lie that your worth depends on your physical appearance or productivity takes time, but God's Word is powerful enough to transform how you view yourself. Whenever body shame or self-doubt creeps in, come back to these Bible verses about self-worth and remind yourself of who created you, who claims you, and who calls you beloved.
